About Our ClubThe Newfoundland Club of Southern California was founded in 1969 by a group of Newfoundland owners who wished to promote the breed and do all possible to bring the Newfoundland Dog to perfection.
NCSC adheres to and supports the Newfoundland standard as adopted by the Newfoundland Club of America, and all subsequent amendments thereto, as approved by the American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence by which the Newfoundland Dog shall be judged.
The Newfoundland Club of Southern California is a recognized regional club affiliated with the Newfoundland Club of America. Our geographical region includes Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Kern counties. The Newfoundland Club of San Diego is located in Imperial and San Diego counties. NCSC members may belong to both clubs.
General and Board Meetings are held on a regular basis throughout our club area. NCSC offers a variety of activities and opportunities for involvement. Whether your Newf is to be shown or kept as a pet (or both!), there are many ways to participate. Your ideas and concerns are of great interest and value to the club.
As a member of NCSC, you will be part of a support network of caring people who will share with you the good times as well as the difficult ones that come to those who are fortunate enough to be owned and loved by these truly wonderful dogs. NCSC is here for you, ready and willing to share knowledge and experience.
Among the activities you and your dog can participate in are matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, water tests and draft tests, grooming seminars, fun picnics, swim parties, dog washers, Camp Newfie and Special Olympics.
NCSC, in cooperation with the national, as well as affiliated regional clubs, offers rescue and referral services. Newfs from animal shelters are rescued and given any necessary care and placed in approved adoptive homes for only a fee that covers medical and grooming expenses as determined by NCSC. We work with owners who can no longer keep their Newfs to find a new loving home. NCSC will assist prospective puppy owners in contacting reliable breeders who adhere to guidelines established by the Newfoundland Club of America.
Our dues are nominal and include regular editions of our club newsletter Pawprints, as well as notices of all club activities. We also offer a junior membership for persons under 18 years of age.
